Cargo Area Development New Apron at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP)

Greer, SC

With increased freight service for international companies doing business in upstate South Carolina, Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) realized the need to develop a new cargo area to serve Boeing 747-800s that operate regularly at the airport. The complete build-out of the site will accommodate parking for up to nine (9) 747-800 aircraft.

Aulick Engineering provided full-time Resident Project Representative (RPR) and construction inspection services of the new cargo apron. Aulick’s scope of work consisted of inspection for earthwork/grading, storm drainage installation, multiple utility installations, base installation, asphalt and concrete paving, new apron lighting system, new airfield lighting and modifications, re-routing of existing FAA ILS cables, partial parallel taxiway closure, and pavement markings. The RPR was responsible for coordination with airport operations and the air traffic control tower, serving as the Owner’s representative, preparing all required FAA forms and documentation, and attending construction meetings.
